How to Store and Handle Peptides for Maximum Stability

Proper storage is critical to preserving the structure and function of your peptides. Mishandling peptides—even before opening the vial—can degrade quality and render your compound useless for research.

Before Reconstitution (Lyophilized Powder):
  • Store peptides in a dry, dark place, ideally in a freezer at -20°C.
  • Avoid repeated thawing and freezing—store in small aliquots if possible.
  • Keep vials sealed and upright to prevent contamination.
After Reconstitution:
  • Use bacteriostatic water or another sterile solvent for dilution (as appropriate for your research).
  • Store reconstituted peptides in the refrigerator at 2–8°C.
  • Use within 7–14 days depending on compound stability.
  • Do not shake aggressively—gentle rolling is preferred to preserve molecular structure.
Tips for Safe Handling:
  • Use gloves and sterile tools at all times.
  • Never expose peptides to high heat or UV light.
  • Label vials clearly with date and compound for traceability.
Bonus:

If you’re working with multiple compounds, maintain a simple peptide log to track storage dates, COAs, and observations from use
